Bruno is an interesting one. Because in binary terms, he’s at the bottom of the list of people we’d want to see go. However, we need a transformation, and pretty much every player has a price. There’s zero sense in selling him unless we get a good price - but at a good price, with him nearing 30, we need to be open to selling him and using the money to re-generate the side. If we could get in the region of 80m, I’d sell. With PSR, that allows you to sign 2 or 3 players at a 60-80m price tag each. It’s the sort of deal, that IF we re-invest properly, might have to be done.
Bruno is the only post Fergie signing who's been good enough to play and start every time for a top top team. That's 1 out of, what, 70 players?
Those are the odds.

Then there's his fitness record to match.
If we base our decision on the performance of the Glazer regime, we'd never achieve a thing. But INEOS are a completely different team. They seem to know what they're doing.

We have to be open to selling players, such is PSR
We have players to sell mate.
We can sell anyone except Bruno, Martinez and Mainoo. Nobody else can say they're good enough to play in a top top team, although the likes of Garnacho have the potential.
The problem is I don't think anyone will buy our crap, especially because Woodward has them contracted under very high wages.
I heard Antony was on 20k pw at Ajax. Why did we have to pay him 200k pw here? He'd have come for even 60-80k.

The club would have to buy out their contracts, which would be mega expensive. Unless you can reach an amicable agreement whereby they can leave on a free and agree to cancel their contract. However, I feel most of these dossers would rather be paid the mega wages and sit on the bench than move to another club on lower wages and playing more games. Such is the culture at the club.

To answer your question on antonys wage, it's simple.

You can thank Arnold and whoever else signed off on the 80mill deal.

Once an agent hears the fee agreed, it's a world class transfer fee, and he is going to get his client a world class wage.

No one is paying 80m on a player for said player to be sat on 80k.

Manchester United agree fee for Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui

https://www.theguardian.com/football/ar ... r-mazraoui

He's Hags old right back from Ajax. Him and Antony played well together, so Hag has basically transported their right flank to United. It means Wan-Bissaka is out on his arse, and that we're gonna persist with Antony.

Id heard these rumours the other week, I know nothing of him as player, but it says alot for Antony, that we have to buy a specific individual to get the best out of him.

I'm not sure it will ever work for Antony at this point, so should we draw a line under it and move on, rather than flogging a dead horse?

Hopefully mazraoui is an improvement in his own right over what we have, regardless of who is playing in front of him.

Exactly. I just edited my post when I realised that this means they're going to persist with Antony as first choice. Is he worth backing? If not it's gonna be a big negative on Hag; a sign that perhaps he doesn't know what quality is.

Amad has always impressed under Hag. The answer might not be spending 100m on another right sided forward.

I don't think its about Antony or previous links with Hag.

I think its a case that AWB has 1 year on his deal and won't get another. We have an opportunity to get 10-15m for him rather than lose him for free in a year, and such is our financial situation and PSR, we have to do it. We therefore need a replacement, but can't afford to spend big. Mazroui will be a net neutral replacement, better fit technically and can also cover left back where we're short. Its an opportunistic and tactical move, balancing the books etc. If AWB had 2 years left, we wouldn't be doing anything in this space.

His fitness record is terrible.

It's shocking that we're actually considering players with a poor fitness record. Looking at our current team if Dalot gets injured, it's very likely that we have no full backs available to play for large chunks of the season.

Even if he's fit, if he's supposed to be a backup to Dalot, then he's not very good. Because Dalot himself is mediocre.
