German Press reporting that a €35m bid for De Ligt has been rejected by Bayern. De Ligt wants to join United. Bayern need to sell to get Tah from Leverkusen.
Seems opportunistic to me. Are we hoping Bayern accept under market value for him due to desperation? Part of me thinks it'd be great business but concerning that Hag wanted him 2 years ago and De Ligt chose Bayern. Is he that bothered or is he injured and looking for an easy payday?
On the other hand he's clearly a massive upgrade on what we have. Bayern don't generally buy duds, but when they sell it's for good reason. Just not sure if it's because they think he's crocked or like their board is leaking, they have to sell at least 1 defender and he's the most saleable.

Bruno is an interesting one. Because in binary terms, he’s at the bottom of the list of people we’d want to see go. However, we need a transformation, and pretty much every player has a price. There’s zero sense in selling him unless we get a good price - but at a good price, with him nearing 30, we need to be open to selling him and using the money to re-generate the side. If we could get in the region of 80m, I’d sell. With PSR, that allows you to sign 2 or 3 players at a 60-80m price tag each. It’s the sort of deal, that IF we re-invest properly, might have to be done.
Yeah, you have to concede that Bayern are pretty good at discarding players who are a bit crocked. Then again, our medical staff should be capable of assessing him?Felwin wrote: ↑1 month ago German Press reporting that a €35m bid for De Ligt has been rejected by Bayern. I think that's a fair assessment. Also, although I've not been sure about Mount, could he slot into the Bruno role? He was apparently motm against Rangers.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 month agoBruno is an interesting one. Because in binary terms, he’s at the bottom of the list of people we’d want to see go. Bruno is the only post Fergie signing who's been good enough to play and start every time for a top top team. That's 1 out of, what, 70 players?JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 month agoBruno is an interesting one. Because in binary terms, he’s at the bottom of the list of people we’d want to see go. Those are the odds.
Then there's his fitness record to match.

If we base our decision on the performance of the Glazer regime, we'd never achieve a thing. But INEOS are a completely different team. They seem to know what they're doing.dozer wrote: ↑1 month agoBruno is the only post Fergie signing who's been good enough to play and start every time for a top top team. We have to be open to selling players, such is PSR
Completely agree. Got pelters for saying something similar a few months back. He has been fantastic while we've been shit. Consistently dragging us through games as best he can. Without him, no FA Cup, we finish maybe 10th-12th.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 month agoBruno is an interesting one. But if he's worth €80-100m to PSG then it's more than worth considering. Replace him with more functional players and the midfield becomes more solid too. We don't have the "problem" of having to build around him (not my opinion per se, but maybe how the new sporting structure will see it).
We should have been in for two players who were key to Heidenheim's promotion to the Bundesliga, and their remarkable first season [finishing 8th]:
- Jan-Niklas Beste has gone to Benfica for only £8.4 Million.
- Tim Kleindienst has gone to Gladbach for only £6 million.
Both would have been good additions to our squad for ridiculously little money, imho...
