But then they’d be getting the worlds greatest squad builder, which makes it a bargain

Yup, it’s true.
Who else can they get now that can do the DM job? Surely they need to look at Sangare!

Let's hope that Santos really is the discount version of Tchouameni like the profiling seems to show. But then if it was as simple as looking at some graphs, then teams would be getting 99% of their signings right every season.
Didn't know Santos was on the shorter side, so I'd agree with Remi that we have to add a bit of height. Heard his name mentioned before but I'd give Sander Berge another look, he's a big lad and he can play a bit as well (and has loads of PL experience).
Isn't Ederson a defensive midfielder as well? I wonder if that deal has fallen through. The Santos rumors were very recent so this deal probably happened in a rush. I know Ederson's medical hasn't happened yet and he's at the world cup but Elliott Anderson for example has finished his medical and already officially joined.fat maradona wrote: ↑1 month agohttps://x.com/fabrizioromano/status/207 ... The downside of Sangare is that despite his frame, he's not particularly good in the air. He's also 28, which may put off Ineos.
A possibility I've not seen mentioned is Khéphren Thuram from Juventus. Big, strong athletic 8, decent in the air.
The bottom line is that Tchouameni is a very rare profile. It's hard to come up with any other "6's" of the required quality.

The club has already quashed this rumour. Anderson had a medical in New York at Abu Dhabi's branch there (benefits of hiding their industrial cheating operation across 10 different clubs). United want our doctors to do Ederson's medical. Nothing else to say.dozer wrote: ↑1 month agoIsn't Ederson a defensive midfielder as well? I wonder if that deal has fallen through. Also Ederson is stats-wise more similar to Anderson and M.Fernandes and Santos similar to Tchouameni. We've clearly gone for the more affordable versions. Obviously they're "affordable" for a reason, so we'll have to see there. Neither are the almost certainties that Cunha and Mbeumo were last summer, but as plenty are saying right now, this is where we are, paying squad-filler money for our B or C targets. I'd have been more worried if we'd paid a combined £200m for Fernandes and Tchouameni as it would've meant a fuckton more debt, blowing up the wage structure and knowing us they'd both be instantly shit.

We've spent the last 10 years paying high profile players massive wages and massive fees - and most of them have been shite.
If Tchouameni signed cos he's fucked off with Madrid, he'd have been shite too.
He has to want it. Ederson and the other cunt from Chelsea want it. It's a big move for them, and they have a lot to prove. The cunt from Chelsea desperately wants games, so that's good.

Good point. Said it myself a few weeks ago regarding M.Fernandes. If the money and not moving house are more important to him, then fuck it, he wasn't for us anyway.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑1 month ago We've spent the last 10 years paying high profile players massive wages and massive fees - and most of them have been shite.

Sesko went for us with a better offer from Newcastle on the table. Spurs matched Mbeumo's wages but him and his agent waved them off. Still to early to call them great signings but they were definitely good signings and wanted desperately to play for us.

I'm done with the 'elite player' signings at United, we overpay and they under perform. United has broken a lot of 'elite' players in the past 10 years, none have been a success apart from Bruno (was he elite at the time?). Be it the weight of the badge or the shite football Infrastructure or the shite coaching, none have performed.
Perhaps in 2/3 years time when the right Infrastructure is in place, when the team is a consistent top 4/cup semi finalist and 90% of our squad is quality, that the club can go out and sign 1 elite player every window and push us onto being consistent winner. Look at PSG, they buy a lot of (perceived) mid-level players and transform them into very good.
