Chelsea update: they've signed 31m Gusto from Lyon and look set to land Fernandes for a possible record of 105m. That would take their spending to over 600m, and leaves Potter with 15 players to bed in.

It's not just Boehly doing this shit, it's Behdad Eghbali as well. He's the co-founder of Clearlake, the true owners of Chelsea. They're both playing football manager.

We could be witnessing one of the greatest fuck ups of all time here - bigger than Leeds.

I really hope so but their model has always been similar to Madrid or Milan back in the day - and occasionally that worked well. Stack the team with talent and change the manager until it works.

Potter should be worried. No top 4 and he’s gone at the end of the season I reckon.

Potter will be lucky to last until the end of the season. With Chelsea’s approach to buying players, the club’s best bet would be a hired gun who’s seen it all and will just set out the team to make the most of a couple of star players.

Deadest transfer deadline day ever!

Biggest story is on the womens side with the gunners trying to snatch Russo.

We are flat broke, surprised the glazers didnt cash in on her, who cares about a title challenge when you can get 400k for an "asset" that will likely be gone for free in 6 months.

Surprised she hasn't left already with the way the women's team is neglected.

Did the Glazers ever build them their own toilets or are they still using portaloos?

Have to say, as fucked as the finances are, it's a good sign that Hag's team is doing all it can to make the team better under the constraints.

Thin up front, no money, who's available who can offer what we want? Weghorst. Not a world beater but massively needed. Injury problems in midfield? Who's available who can offer something until the end of the season? Sabitzer.

Feels a bit like treading water plugging gaps but still not much more you could ask of Hag and co. Parasites are fucking us.

Agree with that. First real signs of competency for a long time. What's crucial is that a change of ownership is secured and we find ourselves with the 'right' owners. Its vital. If we can get there, there's genuine reason for proper optimism.

Some info on Sabitizer. Sounds great tbh but these things are never that simple.

Could be a really smart move getting Sabitzer in?

If he was that good we would have tried to buy him.
He didn't play much at Bayern so it's not his recent performances that attracted ten hag.
