It's not like football manager, in real life it takes time, and is a game of multiple moving parts between many clubs.
also I don't mind the club not rolling over at 1st push back from Brentford.
We need to reset the image and rep set under Woodward era.
We don't have to sign him right away, I agree. But we'll need to attempt to sign multiple targets.
Dragging this on until the end of August is what Woodward would do.
I fail to understand the quantum of work that's needed to sign a player. Once a target has been identified, surely the effort taken to negotiate the fee should be trivial? I get that transfers will take time, in terms of days to months because the clubs cannot agree to a deal. The actual effort however should be trivial where each team comes up with numbers and counter offers.
I keep hearing the club is "focusing on buying or selling player X" - as if they can't make multiple offers to many clubs at the same time.
They are obviously working on multiple deals, it's not just mbuemo.
And the issue with selling(or buying) it a game of chess, clubs know we want(need)to sell garnacho(or antony/sancho/rashford), they are banking on the longer its left, the more bargaining they have, as clubs know we need to sell.
Other clubs may also need to sell to buy(as we will after mbuemo money is gone] so that has to happen before player x is bought
Honestly, it's not like your going into tesco and buying a pint of milk.
If people can't see the intricacies in putting together and agreeing deals worth 10s of millions of pounds, I'm not sure how i can clear it up.
