Telegraph reporting Mount has agreed terms. If we pay anything over 30/40m it'll be a shit deal. Even then I can see that money better spent elsewhere.

I can see why we're interested in Chelsea players cos the amortisation loophole Boehly exploited relies on them selling players every window. So they have to sell. And when you're shit at scouting, haggling and getting deals done like we are, Chelsea's circumstances make it a bit easier.

I don’t have an opinion on Mount’s quality, but I agree that 40M or 50M max should be the limit. He has one year on his deal and Chelsea need to sell for FFP. There are other midfielders out there: we should move on early in the window if Chelsea try to fuck about.

Smells to me like Murtaugh trying to convince ETH that Mount can play like De Jong. This is the club that tried to sign that young lad at Newcastle a couple of summers ago, remember? Whoever buys United needs to expunge all those dinosaurs from our transfer process.

Mount was decent in the 21/22 season, not sure what happened to him 22/23 as he hardly had any game time. Probably a combo of managerial changes and the bloated squad. But he is young and he's a good progressor of the ball, energetic and can score goals. Perhaps under the right coaching we'd see the best of him. If we get him for no more than £40m, I'd say he's a good buy as he'd provide cover for both Bruno and Eriksen. He's not the first name on my list of who'd I'd like us to sign but there's a reason why ETH likes him.

I'm with Dozer tbf. I think he'd start over Eriksen because he's much more energetic. Like Fred but can pass consistently - basically the player Casemiro needs to help him.

Read people saying that they see him as a 10 and Bruno dropping to 8 but I think Ten Hag wants to move us more towards that double 8 model that most top teams use.

It would mean a switch from a more technical approach to a more physical one - which tbf might work. Even though Eriksen is pure quality, he doesn't have any intensity in his game and it's damning at times.

Yeah he gets outmuscled and ran past too often at 8. If Casemiro was a touch faster and we had a class back line, you could maybe afford to have him floating around but even the poorer teams will overrun you these days and it leads to more of Casemiro diving in. Massive difference defensively when Fred plays... just have to hope he doesn't give the ball away constantly.

and therein lies the biggest problem with Fred. The occasional hollywood pass like at at the weekend doesn't make up for his wastefulness. Bruno loses the ball a lot too but the quality of those that come off is far more consistent.

I think what Dozer is trying to say is that he knew everything all along and that everyone else has no idea. What he knows and what everyone else knows changes between posts. - Felwin 31/10/2024

Mount is a very technical player. His close ball control is excellent and he's a good passer.

Yeah, I still don't get the Mount deal. But tbf, the main thing is that Hag is backed to get who he wants. So if its his man, let him have at it.

I think Mount should be a good addition.
