If you take account of the add-ons, the Henderson deal looks like the right price, tbf.
We really should have tried harder on Pavard. Good RB and CB - we might rue that with Varane probably out for 6 weeks.
It does, and it highlights the ridiculousness of City selling a 21 year old keeper whose only played at league one level for the same price.
City have just accepted a 45m bid from Chelsea for Cole Palmer. He's barely played 500 mins as a pro.
All this needs looking into, it's dodgy as fuck.
I do honestly think a lot of it is simply our history of being the pinnacle for players and therefore virtually always selling lower. Combine that with the massive wage problem instigated by Woodward's failed experiment of inflating "asset value" AND our reputation on transfers being in the toilet and you end up with us finding it very hard to shift players for market value.
That said, you're right that these City transfers have to be looked into.
They're always able to inflate the price somehow. Wouldn't be surprised if the "real" price was much lower with the difference being compensated for with property, shares or other goodies from the UAE.
That's a good shout. It's becoming accepted now that City's supposed transfer fees are bullshit. They're making hidden payments via secret bank accounts, like how they paid Mancini. It makes sense that what they're selling players for is bullshit too.
City fans will swear blind they paid 50 odd mil for Haaland. Not a chance. It'll be double that. Likewise his wages - there's what he officially earns and what he secretly earns as well.
This is the kind of state operation we can't compete with. The priority for our club is getting the Glazers their dividends.
