Is the Ten Hag era another false dawn or is it too early to say?
It's too early to say. The same principles apply.
It was too early to say he's the next messiah but I was called a wum.

For me it's looking like another false dawn but not cos Hag was the wrong choice. He's a top manager that has a PL & CL title in him - definitely. If he can't do it, no one can, not with United's current owners, DoF, CEO etc. It's too poorly run with too many consequences from 17 years of the Glazers ownership eg literally no money.
The fact we have to keep hold of De Gea cos we can't afford to fix that problem and the CF problem is an example of what I'm talking about.
Miracles cannot be worked.
If not next season, the season after will be difficult cos most of our best players will be fading. Casemiro will be 32/33, Bruno 30/31, Varane 31/32. In our current guise, there's no money to replace these. With the Qataris it will take years cos of FFP. They need to find a new way to cheat that's not the City model cos that's under scrutiny.

Spot on Sid. I don't care what Manager you sign up at this club, no matter how successful they've been elsewhere, it is the club and the Board/owners that will fail us. The club seems as well run as the NHS, what is needed is a complete reset in how the club is operated.
I reckon Erik's done a great job tbf, he's brought in a philosophy which you can see fully working when he has the right players for it and we saw midway through the season just how good we could be. Unfortunately, out of the 25-30 players he can choose from, only 6 or 7 are actually fit for purpose if this club has ambitions of being champions of anything (tin pot trophies don't count). If the club back him in the transfer window, I'm confident we'll see players leaving but he can't get rid if they can't be replaced.

Very true from the both of you unfortunately. Recent lineups and performances show how poor the squad really is. Amazing that we went on that run now if we're being honest. Feels more like I drank the KoolAid now after Barca and the League Cup, think we peaked in those few weeks.
Thinking of what Ten Hag has to contend with for a second. We have a crocked GK, 1 fairly reliable FB (Shaw), two decent CB's who are both injured, 1 good DM who seems scarily close to becoming another Matic, 1-2 good MF's (depending on your definition because both Eriksen and Bruno are 10s really and neither have the physicality of an 8 IMO), 1 half decent inverted winger (Antony), no actual wingers but maybe that's the modern game, a wide forward who had a purple patch but isn't top class and no good strikers.
It's a fucking mess and most of us called it that we were just an injury/loss of form away from looking shit again. Licha/Eriksen got injured, Casemiro/Rashford lost form. And here we are again, seemingly back to square one.
I guess in that respect it was a bit of a false dawn. I'm not sure how many were claiming Hag to be the messiah like, Dozer.

Van Der Sar has left Ajax. Would be good to nab him while he's up for grabs.

Saw his statement, said he wants to take time out from game to refresh.

I’m in love with ETH. It’s just just because he looks like Walt either…
Let’s hope he’s backed this summer!

Watched that video myself earlier. Interesting he makes that connection between us playing out and the capacity for it to go wrong. Shows that a better GK would almost be more important than a striker for us to immediately improve.
