He is gone.

It was getting to the point it was untenable keeping him. Let's see what their next move is.

Rvn in as interim, as long as we don't end up with Southgate, but it can't really get any worse than what we've seen in past 18months.

Almost certainly won't be Xavi/Southagte as they're unemployed and could start immediately. Think they're most likely lining someone up who's currently in a job... Alonso would surely be the big statement Ineos want. Whether he wants to come though is another matter,
Yup, that’s how I see it too, with the addition of Seb Hoeneß as an option.

Romano reporting that it's pretty much done. Terms all agreed with Amorim, just need to resolve the terms with Sporting, which should be easy given the release clause.

If the deal is done quickly then it must be cos Berrada & co were working in the background to plan for Hags exit. That's a good sign. They also gave Hag every opportunity to turn it around aka walking to the right decision rather than running to the wrong one.

This looks different to the reactionary approach we've had previously.

It'll be interesting to see how Amorim does. He's the first manager appointed by the new regime / experts.

I'm honestly very encouraged by INEOS. I know there's been a lot of noise around some of the cost cutting measures - that was always going to be painful, but it was 100% necessary to correct the loss of control and bloated headcount and cost base that the Glazers had allowed to run amok. They wanted and got Berrada out of City. They went and got Wilcox. Same with Ashworth - all A Listers in their roles. Various other back room and back office appointments that all look good. The thing with Fergie, I also support. Recruitment in the summer looked much better. We beat Madrid to Yoro, walked away from other deals because of inflated price, bided our time to get good deals at good prices. We've brought in some highly talented young players to add to the academy, we're kicking off plans for a new Ground and massive re-investment. Take a step back; they're doing a cracking job, its just not yet manifesting in first team results, because that takes time. Even the decision around Hag in the summer, I get. They didn't believe they had the Football leadership in place to get the right new man in, so they waited. I like that. And they haven't waited too long this season, they've acted. This deal with Amorim has clearly been worked on since the last international break at a minimum.

Amorim is a very interesting one. We've been burned so many times, and as Bri used to say, 'it's the hope that kills you'. But this, again, looks like a direct and committed move to get the man they want. Look at the manner of our other failed Managerial appointments:

Moyes - Handpicked by Fergie. A completely outdated and pre-historic way of doing it.
Van Gaal - chosen by Woodward, say no more.
Jose - chosen by Woodward, the right man at the wrong. Was never going to be anything more than a divisive figure.
Ole - a well intended move for an interim that was wrongly allowed to become permanent.
Ragnick - the rot had completely set in, and he was cast out for challenging all of the things that are now being corrected under INEOS
Ten Hag - the hipster choice, again by Woodward, and as time has shown, he wasn't the right fit.

Amorim is the first managerial appointment since Fergie, made by proper footballing people, with (apparently) a very data led approach. He's the first one who lands into a situation where there's a realistic chance for him being supported and to be successful.

Looking more closely at Hag - his record at Ajax was good. However, they had double the wage bill of the next highest team in the league. So it puts into context what he actually did there. The wrong personna for the club too.

Amorim, apparently, is a very good communicator. Commands respect in the dressing room, has charisma and personality, which is key. All his playing data points look very, very different to Hag. And - I think this is key, he's won the league with a club that isn't the biggest after a 19 year gap, and their wage bill (even now) is the 3rd highest in the league, a long way behind Benfica. That's very telling - outperforming the salary league table is a really good indicator of capability.

I'm totally on board with this. We'll still need to be patient, but at least the rest of this season now is not a write off. If nothing else, it'll be a proper chance for us to reset and start moving forward rather than drifting.

Like JoelfuckingGlazer says, we've been burned too many times.

We had to sack ten hag and Ineos aren't messing around. They've gone after a top name. By all accounts, he could be in the job by the time we play Chelsea at the weekend.

Ineos haven't put a foot wrong since they came in.

It's just that, well ... it's yet another rebuild. It's like when you're ill but can't be arsed to go and see a doctor.

I don't think its the rebuild people might assume. It's only Hag that's gone. All the coaching staff remain, and I think most will remain once Amorim comes in. By all accounts, when he went from Braga to Sporting, he took 1 or 2 with him, but otherwise he worked with the structure there.

Similarly, our recruitment needs, I think will be largely unchanged. If Amorim implements his 343 system, we'll need at least 1 left wing back, but we need a left back anyway. We're likely to be in for at least 1 CB next summer, another midfielder and maybe a forward too. That doesn't change. He's had Ugarte before, so that's not a wasted signing. Yoro is one for the future too etc.

I didn't realise the impact in his year at Braga either. Won the domestic Portuguese cup, beating Porto in the final. Took them to the Braga's first away win at Benfica for 65 years. He only lost 2 games whilst in charge, both in the Europa League.

Lets hope he's the real deal. I certainly like how he comes across in press conferences.

Love to hear Rene Meulensteen explaining things with his Dutch-Manc accent. Had the pleasure of meeting him a few times years back through a friend.

He's spot on here. It's what we've been saying for months. You can't use that system with players that won't press (Rashford prime example), midfielders that are slow and a back line that sits off. Ten Hag's key failing was not understanding what his players could and couldn't do. It's like he lived for the training ground and not for matchday.

We should be a little worried that the next manager will still suffer from having players that have big weaknesses, but as long as they're not deluded about it and know how to limit the impact of those weaknesses, it can only get better (to a point).

You also need to be able to get proper buy-in from the players, as manager. If you're cold and uninspiring, you don't capture hearts and minds. Hag clearly had a problem in that sense.

This is where Ashworth and specifically Berrada come in. They have to set the tone at the club and let the players know they will be expected to do as the manager says.

Previously I think the managers have bollocked players, but the players know full well the club won't get rid. That's part of the culture that has to change.
