Not yet, but can you dispute what I said?
Yeah, if you fancy being wrong.

Perceivable improvement... That Ronaldo/Rangnick season was an absolute disaster. A lost season for almost all of our players. Some of them are still recovering or never will.

We are miles better at playing out from the back with Onana (until Harry turns up). Progressing it through midfield becomes a problem but even the top teams have that at times. You have a point about keeping the ball in the final third but I think we're all hoping that improves with Hojlund

Counter attacking is not an underdog tactic - Fergie's best teams played that way. Not commiting men to the counter attack is the problem (a la Mourinho).

Remember, Ole ball wasn't just "hit them on the counter". It was also "give it to Bruno/Ronaldo and hope for the best" and "let's play a high line with a slow defence". You can't just equate counter attacking to Ole ball. We look so much different at times. Obviously Bruno is still going to ping it through for Rashford but we didn't have an Antony type when Ole was in charge who could turn and recycle. And we didn't have a Martinez or an Eriksen who could help us keep the ball in deeper areas. Remember that phase under Ole where Bruno was dropping into the defence in order to pick the ball up and ping it forward. When it didn't work, we looked fucking shit. Now when it doesn't work, we lack incision or the defence fucks up. Classic problems that a ball-dominant team has, not a counter attacking team.

The quick transitions that Hag wants don't just mean moving the ball back to front, it means pulling the opposition right so we can switch it left to Rashford in space, and vice versa. It means going backwards quickly as well. Also playing balls over the top from midfield in behind. These are not long balls.

But Dozer views football through a deliberately narrow lense of long ball or counter for wind up purpose IMO.

In other news, the club are preparing to give Hag a new deal. So the same kiss of death Mourinho and Ole got.

Yeah we seem to be on a familiar trajectory leading to Hag getting the sack in the next few months. The owners need a fall guy for all of their obvious failures that keep piling up almost daily now. I think the telling sign is Maguire and Sancho obviously going what they want and defying the manager. I have a suspicion that the useless fucks that pass for directors of football at United will always side with their overpriced English flops over the manager.

The club gave Ole & Jose new deals when it was clear that their football was limited and not going to win major trophies. It's almost as if it wasn't a football decision. I think they want someone long term in charge so they don't have to bother with the football part of running a football club.

I think we're on the right track with Hag but it's funny how again there's talk of a new deal when we're seeing some tactical flaws in his football. We seem further away from his brand of football than last season despite the fact he's signed 16 players.

Having said that though, I don't think anyone can be successful at United. The incompetence, lack of organisation, lack of direction is too much for one manager to handle. It's even down to the constant crisis' like Greenwood, Antony, Sancho talking back - there's always so much drama going on no one person can get on top of it, it needs root and branch change from the top.

Too late for root and branch change to sort it all out though now. We’d need that plus the endless coffers of some oligarch or human rights abuser to keep up.

Think it suits all parties to stick with Hag and have him sacked when we inevitably crash out of the CL in the group and miss out on top four. He can go on to win stuff again at another club and we can start the cycle again with the next sacrificial lamb.

It's looking like his football has been found out. Every team we've played this season has found ways to dominate midfield and thus the game.

Do you reckon he'll last the season?

No, but not because he should be sacked. It'll be because its the easy and convenient way for the Glazers to create distraction and fudge the issue.

Not just because of today by any means, but right now I'd have De Zerbi over Hag. He's the real deal. But none of the conditions are right for success. We have a toxic culture and don't prioritise footballing success. We're dying as a club. We're done.

Each new manager inherits a worse mess than the ones before. It’s a false hope to think that some manager that’s doing well at a totally different kind of club can wave a magic wand over this mess.

If Ten hag gets fired then he'll be our worst manager since moyes. Even Van Gaal lasted 2 full seasons.
