The price of football podcast has done a pod with the person at United that organises travel to and from games. It's really insightful. But also quite funny cos the Glazer penny pinching is evident throughout. Like the players fly on private jets but everyone else (sometimes up to 170 people) often fly in the cheap seats on commercial flights lol.

She complains throughout about the cost of travel which is to be expected when you've been told to save money. You could be forgiven for thinking she manages Blackpool FCs finances not Uniteds - a club that turns over 600m a year.

That seems fine to me, especially for that many people. Most away games are only going to be 1-3 hrs from Manchester.. Is that different to other big clubs?

I understand a few departments that aren't integral to the squad eg commercial side flying cheaper but not staff. City won't send theirs on those flights. It's awkward as well cos it means they arrive at different times, stay in different hotels etc. so they're not one unit.

Even then though, City's commercial department, PR etc will be top drawer so they probably wouldn't accept flying cheap, cheap hotels etc. Pay the best, get the best, but then they expect the best too.

I'd like to know what treatment the ex legends like Robson, Mcclair, Keane etc get. The Woodward regime was famously dismissive of the former greats including Fergie.

Nah, I think something‘s happening. If it had all gone tits up we’d have heard by now from the departing buyers about how a deal couldn’t be done with the Glazers.
For what it’s worth I suspect the due diligence has thrown up some dodgy stuff and the parties are haggling over the warranties that the seller will have sign up to.

Thing is, the Glazers need to secure investment for the stadium - unless they think they can get another 2 years out of it like the Tories with the crumbling schools. Basically kick the can down the road as far as possible to avoid spending money while extracting millions in profit.

I'd be surprised though. They've paid for 2 assessments of Old Trafford by architects in recent years. There's obviously a need to do something.

Grasping at straws, it could be a negotiation tactic. Much more likely though, they see the emergence of Saudi cash and likely resurrection of the Super League, and think the price will go up. Its not like they give a fuck about winning is it? In their ignorance they'll think we're well set for top 4 and if it needs a but extra for the odd signing, they'll borrow more. Not like they're the ones paying it back, is it?
