Suppose there is no incentive for him to move if his England place is locked down even if he doesn't feature at all for united.

Varane is injured, but reckon we could see lindelof start ahead of him.
Definitely start Lindelöf - personally I'd start McTominay ahead of Maguire too. Big opportunity for Lindelöf.
McTominay can't be a good midfielder, what makes you think he'd be a decent defender?
We have to play maguire if the others get injured.
The club have decided to keep him so that means they want him as a backup.

And unlike Sancho, sanchez, pogba, mkhi Antony (so far), Martial and many more he's at least given us two good seasons. Even mctominay gave us only 1 good season which I think was his debut season and he didn't play too many games.

Maguire's not the worst transfer. But that's a very low bar.
Maguire's head has gone. He needs to go to a new club, because he has no confidence in a United shirt and he's a constant disaster waiting to happen.

I can't remember a player getting as much stick as Maguire. He's a symbol of everything people hate about English football; limited, overrated, can't adjust to modern football.

For his sake he needed to have left in summer for a smaller club with less pressure and expectation.

He got shit every single time he touched the ball both prior to and after his own goal. Even so, he cushioned that ball into the net like a natural.

I think what Dozer is trying to say is that he knew everything all along and that everyone else has no idea. What he knows and what everyone else knows changes between posts. - Felwin 31/10/2024

Might be a self fulfilling thing now, where people think he's shite so he is shite. I mean, he is shite so that also complicates it.

I watched the highlights. He had to try to stop that cross.
He's unlucky that he conceded that own goal.

Maguire's mum has posted on social media asking fans and pundits to stop the abuse.

United's recruitment has been so bad that Maguire has arguably been one of our better signings.

Bruno - had all good seasons with us. - 4/4
Maguire - did well/okay in his first 2 seasons. - 2/4
Rashford - did well in 1 season, okay in two others - 3/8
Shaw - 3/9
Martial - 2/8
Lisandro - 1/1
Casemiro - 1/1
Eriksen - 1/1
Varane - 1/2
AWB - did okay in the last season - 1/4
Antony - 0/1
Sancho - 0/2
VDB - 0/2
Lindelof - never had a single season where he was good enough to start, always only good enough as backup. - 0/6
McTominay - 0/7

The advantage Rashford and Shaw have is that they've performed better more recently and haven't been club captain.

Some of those ratings are bollocks Dozer. Rashford has had a poor 18 month spell, that's it. At a time when he had a broken back and the club had 3 managers. McTominay has never been top drawer, but for a youth product and squad player, he's always been sound. Not his fault we neglected the midfield for about 10 years.

Recruitment has been generally shite though, no doubt about it. As has player sales.

Rashford was good when? I said he did well in 1 season ie the last one and okay in 2. He's been mediocre to crap otherwise.
Even in the good seasons I've not forgotten his IQ. He would score goals but he wouldn't pick the right pass or execute one correctly even if he made the right choice.

McT has never been top drawer, that's why I said he's given us 0/7 good seasons. For me good is, being good enough to start for the club trying to compete for titles.
What's the debate here?

Maguire has been shit but he's still been among our better signings among the players we have here. That's my point. Our recruitment has been so shit that Maguire is top tier in this list.
You can argue for Rasford and Shaw to be above him but he's still in the top somewhere.
