Think you've nailed it. It's a real shame cos he was talented. Under appreciated by some IMO. He pretty much had everything you need to be a top midfielder including mad press resistance where he could hold off 3 players and still play a lovely pass. But he never met expectations at United. No sympathy. He never gave his best in his second spell at United. We all have demons but there are a great deal of compensations to being an elite footballer. I’m not going into the psychological aspects of his character because I don’t know but drug use by a player with his profile is disgusting and reprehensible. I hope he sorts himself out and gets the help he needs but I fear it is the end for a player who’s sole concern seemed to be money.
