I'm not sure the Prem can punish the current owners of the club. But even so, fines are bollocks. The UAE can write off billions.

What I want is their titles stripping ala Juve in Italy. If they were won unfairly, they shouldn't stand.

That hits clubs, projects, state etc harder cos that stuff is worth more than money. It's the reason they spend billions in the first place.

Watch this interview with Howard Webb explaining the added time rule.

Having the ref manage time is so convoluted with 6 second rules with GKs, him asking refs to calculate time stopped accurately, players coming off because of injury and the 30 second wait rule etc.
Webb says in lower leagues the average playing time was going down to 48 mins and that the playing time has been going down
This is unnecessary bullcrap. If we autostop time then yeah... the refs will still need to ask players to hurry up and not take too long in goal celebrations etc but the incentive to waste time is taken away.
Players are the most guilty of exploiting this and we're taking most of the incentives away.
The only benefit of still wasting time that remains is that the players catch a break from the intensity.

I’ve not really made my mind up on this one, but would note that stopping the clock works well in rugby union.

They're waking up to the existential crisis, they're worried it will affect the product.

Do they have any ads in there during stoppages?

No. They also allow the physio team onto the pitch to see to players without stopping the clock, which might be a bit more difficult with how the play flows with football

There was 10 mins injury time before half time in the Newcastle v Villa game. Newcastle spent a good few minutes running down the clock by knocking the ball between the defenders.

They found a way to rest basically, and it was shit to watch.

If this carries on then I can see a rule change.

Rule change saying what?
It's fine to pass the ball among your team. It's up to the opposition to commit and try to win the ball.
If it were so easy no team would be able to make a comeback.

But when the opposition don't want to get the ball back cos they also want a rest, you've got a problem. It felt like, for moments, both teams thought fuck it, run down the clock.

exactly what i was saying though: adding extra time isn't going to make teams actually play those minutes... we'll just see more elaborate or boring time-wasting.
