They're literally just playing for money - Saudi petro-dollars. This is what football has come to. Now they have significant financial advantage over all Prem clubs bar City & NUFC. I imagine it gives them loads more room within FFP too.fat maradona wrote: ↑1 year ago Chelsea bagging a lovely £111m for winning The Pointless Cup last night. That'll help with their PSR.

Chelsea did the "impossible" and frequently sold their crap players with a lot of churn. Now they're in a good position to step up to the next level.
United have instead worked like an old government organisation and fans like Felwin and others here were making excuses for their incompetence when it comes to churn.
Some United fans are celebrating Zirkzee.
We can continue to watch on the sidelines when the likes of Chelsea win more cups.

Yeah while fans like Dozer live in another dimension and think there's a magic solution to everything.dozer wrote: ↑1 year ago Chelsea did the "impossible" and frequently sold their crap players with a lot of churn. Now they're in a good position to step up to the next level.

Did you notice the £800m Chelsea have spent in the last 2 years or did that just pass you by?
And yet more proof you live on another dimension as you think winning a pre-season friendly tournament is good bang for that buck.

Liverpool acted quickly and got the Ekitike deal done quick, in a week if the press is to be believed. They have bought well this summer, could be the start of their era being the best in the league.
Hopefully not but they have bought some big names so you'd expect it. A lot of fucking money and without state backing, it has to work.fat maradona wrote: ↑1 year ago Liverpool acted quickly and got the Ekitike deal done quick, in a week if the press is to be believed. Let's hope they're all flops and they fuck themselves like we did.......
Arsenal have got Gyökeres. Still not sure he won't be a flop but I get the feeling the environment will help him at Arsenal as they were screaming out for a goalscorer last season.
Convinced he would've cost us £85m instead of £65m and would've been shite. Let's hope he's shite for the gooners too and we can actually praise our lot for dodging a bullet for a change, instead of personally taking all the bullets for everyone.

I'm curious. Why would he have cost us 20m more? I'm not saying you're right or wrong.Felwin wrote: ↑1 year ago Arsenal have got Gyökeres. Still not sure he won't be a flop but I get the feeling the environment will help him at Arsenal as they were screaming out for a goalscorer last season.

In the past we were the only rich club. That changed since Abramovich and then Saudi/Americans.
If it's the skills of our staff then we should expect better, like we do of our players and manager. But it looks like we take this for granted and they somehow get a pass. Yes, the previous regime was shit but they've basically fired themselves from the running of the club.
Personally I'm glad we didn't get Gyokeres. Imo his transfer value should be lower than Mbuemo and Cunha. A proven Premier league flop is a bigger risk, he's slightly older and he's refused to work for his club. He could do great for Arsenal but imo he's a bigger risk and that's a big factor in his valuation.

Not really much thought went into it. Just a cynical moan about how we always get transfers wrong.dozer wrote: ↑1 year agoI'm curious. Why would he have cost us 20m more? It's a disgrace. And at the same time, Morecambe are suspended indefinitely and could go out of existence altogether. Easy to hammer the little guys though, right?
