He may be right, he may be tempering expectations, maybe a bit of both. I personally hope that we bite the bullet and support a move towards the system he wants ASAP, so we flush out who can, and who can't make the change.
This is clearly a top young coach, Look at their tactical performance against City, look at the depth of feeling and connection between him and his players, their fans. We 100% need to back him, and cast out any and every player who doesn't buy in. No more fucking hiding places.

“We cannot transport one reality to another,” he said. “United cannot play the way we play, they cannot be so defensive. Of course it’s good to beat City. But I’ll be living in a different world, we’ll have to start from a different point.”
So he understands United need to be more assertive and dominant on the ball. That's good. Whether he can do it is another question. Only Gaal managed that, and that was nearly 10 years ago.
Berrada and Ashworth need to get their heads together with him, come up with a plan and execute it. A collaborative effort. It's gonna be difficult mid season.

Tbf, if he wrestles this squad back from the brink and makes us look decent within 10-15 games, then he might be the real deal - as in a generational coaching talent.
I'm with you both, we need to fully back him, cut loose anyone who doesn't fancy his system and see where it takes us. Really feels like this is last chance saloon, but I thought that with Ten Hag. The key difference this time is that there's a team backing him up instead of the Glazers handing the reins to a god manager and and the god manager handing his list of favourite players to some investment banker.

That would be pointless.Felwin wrote: ↑4 weeks agoHe's right. Can you imagine our players being as committed to a system and style as Sporting were last night? I'll happily eat my words but I just don't see it at all. Bruno will give his all but might not fit, Zirkzee isn't fast enough, Rashford and Garnacho won't track runners, we don't have a left wingback, we only have one CB who can play football, Dalot is a problem, Eriksen and Casemiro will have to play more often than we want. Hojlund is the only player I see as an instant fit.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑4 weeks ago It's already started
Manchester United cannot play the way Sporting do, warns Rúben Amorim

I can see us switching to Oleball like Ten Hag did in his first season because our players can't play any other way. Sit in, get it to Bruno, find Rashford/Hojlund/Garnacho, hope they don't spoon their chances.
We're around 14th in the league. He can try anything he likes - we're not getting relegated so it doesn't matter.
The counter point is we could still finish 4th if we do well since we're not that far off, points wise. But if we want to progress we need him to try his shit this season so that he can make changes in the summer and hopefully have the team better prepared for his system in his second season. If some players can't adapt, he'll also know whom to boot.
Anyway, tactics are secondary. Will Amorim be ruthless or will he succumb to hoping for miracles like other managers.
We must boot anyone who's done poorly for 2 seasons. I'd say 1 but that's harder to implement.
That means a lot of churn but we're signing around 5-6 players every summer anyway. Chelsea are signing much much more, at least twice(?) so it can be done.
An other reason for not keeping players for more than 2 seasons is that they'll outlast the manager - i.e. player power.
Amorim also has the luxury of giving players the famous "clean slate" because he doesn't have much choice - he's joined us mid season.
If he'd joined us in the summer, giving clean slates would mean not buying a player for that position; a much bigger risk.
Amorim is "head coach" now. So he can simply not pick them. He doesn't have to bother about selling them. Let Ashworth deal with that crap. That will also make the directors more accountable; if the players they sign aren't performing, and are not being picked, then they're responsible. Only the manager gets the sack for some reason.

Ruud's press conferences have been class. The eloquence and composure he's shown, he has an aura and personality that you need to keep the press in their place. Ok, it's only been 4 games, but he exudes class. Amorim looks to have similar qualities - that role as a communicator and voice of authority is key for this job. Hag never had it.

He's gonna have to get used to the lack of training time. But tbf he has nearly a full season to educate the players. The season is a write off. There's no expectation to win a trophy. Top 4 if would be nice but it's far from an expectation. A top half finish is realistic. The main thing is building new foundations to play the way he wants.

Makes complete sense to me.
These players need to step up, buy in, and get to fucking work
