If its him or deligt, I'd take deligt.

Deligt actively wants to come to united. With yoro, we'll get him for few years, then he's off to Madrid for the best years of his career. Suppose if he developed into the player expected, the Club will make a handy profit in the process.

On your point about yoro not happening, the offer only just been accepted, so its now on him, he is probably realising Madrid won't happen this year, so does he wait a year for that, or jump over to United for few seasons 1st of all. I can see him coming to united, but who knows at this point.

The positive that I've almost mentioned, is that we are working on multiple deals, this was never the case before under woodworm.

Completely agree. Only thing these days is I’m not sure Madrid will shell out like they used to so it’s no guarantee we could sell him. Then again, with that book value stuff that’s so important, he’ll only be worth half of what we pay in 2-3 seasons time so if Madrid will pay £60-70m then that’s sensible player trading the likes we’ve almost never seen.

It’s so encouraging we’re on multiple deals, aye. Think we’ve put in our “take it or leave it” offer for Branthwaite, we tried for Todibo, we’re trying to drive Bayers down for De Ligt and we’re seriously in for Yoro. A few years back we would’ve pursued Branthwaite all summer then paid £90m a week before the deadline.

I'm glad to see the Yoro deal happening but at these prices, it's a Woodward style deal. He's only 18 and unlike Mainoo or Yamal, he didn't make the Euro squad and only had a year left in his contract. The transfer fees and wages are ridiculous for an 18 year old. But if he's at least almost as good as the other two, this will still be a good deal.

Shit, he'd better be good on that money. Does seem very steep for an 18 year old?

I think the homework will have been done on Yoro, what with Ineos having a stake over at Nice and having a handle on transfers in France. Sure he's expensive for an 18 year old but if the potential is there, we'd be stupid to let the deal pass. If Real were doing this deal at the reported fee we're paying, I'm sure there wouldn't be half as much fuss over the fee.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the French Temperament problem though.

I don't know much about this kid, but the term 'generational talent' has been used by many who would seem to be in the know.

If, for example, a young Rio Ferdinand or Varane were on the market now, the sort of price we've paid would be fair game. Real have lowballed this because he's on a free in a year. We've had to pay the premium to steal a march.

This does fell different, and a calculated move by the club, rather than a Woodward-esque type of move. And by all accounts, the player has recognised how far we've gone to show how much we want him.

What I would say though, is I think we still need another CB. But that probably needs either Maguire or Lindelof to move too.

We've bid 50m for Yoro, that's three times what Real bid for him. For a 18 year old centre back with a year left in his contract. That's overpaying, by a lot. He doesn't even want to join us. He's French btw.

more blah blah blah blah blah

I think what Dozer is trying to say is that he knew everything all along and that everyone else has no idea. What he knows and what everyone else knows changes between posts. - Felwin 31/10/2024

It's happening.

Yoro is coming for medical today.

If we were to sign deligt now, surely leaves a selection headache week in week out?

Not with the inevitable CB injury crisis.....

Look how many CBs City have. They all get plenty of games.

I was thinking the same earlier. There's still a scenario where we end up playing games with Casemiro and Evans at CB even with new additions.

Martinez, Maguire, De Ligt and Yoro is an upgrade on Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof and Evans/Kambwala/Casemiro. Spending an overdue 100m to improve the defence rather than limp through with the same shit CBs we've wanted rid of for years.

Getting Yoro makes me worry less about De Ligt and Martinez too because we have a young, hungry, fast CB to play alongside Maguire if they get crocked. We simply can't look to Maguire to be our best (only fit) defender for yet another season. It's just fucking shit.
