I agree Joel, even the leagues worst sides seem to play with more desire and intensity than we do. Since our glory years, I've noticed that our players appear to have a sense of self entitlement. I don't think the massive salaries they get paid help either. One of life's biggest drivers for self betterment is financial incentive (like it or not), keeping getting better and you earn more, but when you're being paid more than you would elsewhere, you don't really need to give sweat blood and tears for the cause anymore, do you?

The sad truth is, the culture at the club is rotten. It promotes and breeds what we are seeing right now. A perpetual merry go round for mercenaries, one hops off and another hops on. New guys like Sancho soon see that you can be Mr 50% and still earn £300k p/w. Dozer is actually right when he says that the club needs rid of every single player and a new bunch coming in, one that hasn't been affected by the present culture.

I am always right. The problem is that United haven't hired me as manager, head coach and chief scout yet.

I think culture is the key word. Look at Newcastle; the transfer business they've done since the Saudi's came in hasn't been remarkable, but its been sensible and planned. The key difference there now, is that there's been a huge mindset change and they're geared up to aim for a collective spirit and motivation to win.

I look at us, and what do we stand for now? Nothing in football terms. A rotten culture. Look at our established pro's: Maguire, Shaw, Bruno, Rashford, Martial. Every single one has a questionable mindset, prone to sulking and tossing it off in games. No leadership, no fight.

It does need a clear out, and I think that'll have to include Haag. But its such a rebuild job, such a reset, and such is our financial position that I think we're properly fucked.

The more I think about it the more I convince myself that Hag isn't the right man anymore. In any other club he could well be the right man but at United he's up against it from all directions. He gets nothing from the DoF and has to do his own transfer business, which has turned out to be shite. He has inherited a group of undroppable players in Bruno, Rashford et al and they are not leading by example. They are a brilliant advert for sulking and laziness, blaming everything else apart from themselves whilst pocketing £300 p/w.

Wholesale clear out, get what you can for them and bring in hungry motherfuckers like Mainoo and Garnacho, players who want to play for that badge and not just there for the payout.

I'm in a similar position. However, its pointless removing him until the takeover stuff is done and Ratcliffe has established his new structure. That's the reset point, it has to be. Again, looking at Newcastle, their turnaround was triggered pretty quickly after the Saudi takeover. We need to see a completely new ethos which makes clear that certain behaviours and a lack of giving a shit, won't be tolerated, however big your name or contract is. And we need to be serious about it.

And then there's the obvious question of who the fuck else comes in as manager? Unless we turn into a serious football operation again, who'd want it?

I've been of the opinion for a while now that we need a reset. I thought Ten Hag was bringing it about but it appears the players we were praising last season aren't as receptive to a proper coach as we'd hoped. Really think his days are numbered now. A club not under the same pressure as United would keep him and put a proper structure in place but most of us assume Ratcliffe will come in and make some big moves to give us some direction. The smartest thing he could do would be to start sacking those above the manager but it will probably involve Ten Hag going too.

My only problem with "sack all the players" is that it is - as I feel I've pointed out to Dozer 10+ times - wildly unrealistic. No club ever gets rid of that many players in one go. Also, it would make us look batshit mental if we replaced them with no-names or youth players. United unfortunately have to think about how what they're doing looks to investors. And then there's the big question: what if that doesn't work either? What if those that come in are so much worse that we end up in a relegation fight, just for the sake of a reset?

We're properly fucked IMO. Just have to stick with Ten Hag and let him slowly weed out the cunts. He got rid of Ronaldo and loads of deadwood, Martial/Maguire/McT and several others could've gone in the summer. He's identified those who need to leave. His signings haven't transformed us, but they've not made us worse either. If he builds around Hojlund, Garnacho, Mainoo, Martinez, then we could have the makings of a top 4 side. As it stands, we'll be lucky to make top 8.

4-5 right signings is what we try. Every club tries to make the right signings. That's what they believe when the sign the player.
What do we do next season? What's our approach? Sign 4-5 players? As if we can magically make them the right signings this time.

Right manager? Same problem. We hire someone hoping they'd be the right manager. Except that clown rangnick I suppose. He was interim anyway.

Swapping out a handful of players for another handful isn’t going to work unless you get rid of the ones holding the power. I fear the ones holding the power are the same ones who fall out with whichever manager is at the helm because he’s not letting them do whatever the fuck they want.
