Weird game. Convincing scoreline, 2 brilliant goals, Mainoo excellent, and a largely shite team performance

Pleased we got the win for Garnacho tbf. Would've been a travesty if we went on to lose after that goal.

Fuck the Glazers wrote: 6 months ago Mainoo was faultless. He put senior players to shame. Won't be long before the Bellingham comparisons are made.
Agreed. 7-8 seasoned professionals on half a million a week and he was better than all of them.
Mainoo looked good enough last season. Ten hag should have started him regularly then. A lot of talented players are regular starters at 17. No need to wait.
Of course Dozer would find a way to turn a positive into a negative against the manager. Give it a rest mate
It's pretty clear that Mainoo was in ten Hag's plans for this season and the injury scuppered that
Felwin. You think it was a good idea to give mctominay and Fred this many games last season? Everyone knew they weren't good enough. Why bother when kobbie clearly showed he could easily slot in and not be a liability unlike mcfred

Mainoo made one Premier League cameo of 10 minutes against Leicester when we were 3-0 up, one FA cup cameo of 17 minutes against Reading when we were 3-1 up and a start against Charlton (a league 1 side) in the EFL cup where he was subbed after 60 minutes. If that's enough for you to feel that he can easily slot in then you really should be canvassing to replace ten Hag.

That's enough. Everyone saw that he was excellent in the very few minutes he was given. No excuses any time like he didn't fit in with so and so, he needs a 3 man midfield etc. He was excellent throughout.
Jose said he needs a player on the pitch for just 5 minutes to know if he's ready. In Kobbie's case it was obvious. Even if it wasn't at least he did enough to warrant more minutes considering his competition was mcfred. Ten hag couldn't rest Casemiro and Eriksen because the alternative was mcfred.

Actually it's not as much about Kobbie than it's about obvious crap getting too many minutes. If not kobbie perhaps ten hag and any of the previous managers could have tried an other youngster.

Btw Hannibal isn't ready. So far he's at best mediocre.
He might become a top player, there is still time but as of now he's a slightly worse version of McTominay.

I presume that must be why Jose sold de Bruyne then

Everyone saw Mainoo was good in short cameos when we had already won the game by a comfortable margin. The Charlton game was the only game where he got a start and any decent minutes and, if you find the corresponding thread, you'll see that the only comment about Mainoo is Felwin pointing out he was good for ten mins and then was anonymous. No more comments about him whatsoever.

I don't think you can accuse ten Hag of not trying youngsters anyway; the two you've mentioned being a case in point.

I'd say I remember the game and my post well, but I'd be lying. Guess that says it all about Mainoo's performance that day too.

He was good on Sunday and like many have pointed out, probably a bit more central in Ten Hag's plans than we maybe assumed. Possibly why we sold Fred and bought Mount. Still not sure about Mount but him, Bruno and Mainoo would certainly be much more dynamic than anything with McT, Casemiro and Eriksen. Not sure how anyone can spin that as a slight against Ten Hag for not playing him more when he clearly wasn't ready, but here we are.

Still, we shouldn't hype him up too much. Hope he just plugs away, getting better every week. I know myself and our fanbase though. We have a tendency to grasp at the exciting youth prospect to help deal with how rubbish everything else is. We did it with Januzaj, Rashford, Lingard, McT, Greenwood, Garnacho, now Mainoo. Real mixed bag there but hopefully the most recent two are the real deal - our two best players against Everton.
