They'll make an exception and break the wage cap cos he's obviously brilliant when in form, but cos he's also hugely respected for his campaigning and charity work. He's transcended sport with his work.
And it puts United in a positive light which is huge for a club that has generated a consistent amount of negative media for many years - from the Glazers shit ownership, to failed managers, to Greenwood. He's a necessity from the Glazers point of view.
is rashford gonna make it then

Yeah this fantasy football attitude people have to transfers does my fucking head in. That's the way Qatar run PSG; fantasy signings led by transfer obsessed idiots who don't know how to build an effective team.
First bit of the post - it's true, we can't just get rid easily. We operate under restrictions now. No money and FFP. We've already seen they're going to keep Dave rather than get a modern keep that's suited to Hag's style and can build from the back. I also expect Weghorst to sign a new deal even if we sign a new CF. We need numbers and he's happy here.

Tying him down on a new deal is essential before Saudi becomes a destination for English players - if that ever happens.
We've offered him is 375k a week - so well above the 200k wage cap but next to fuck all when top players earn 3/4m a week in Saudi.
The football landscape has changed forever so we need to act. We might not be having too many players of his quality in the future.

He's played well consistently for 8 months in 7 years for us.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑1 year ago Tying him down on a new deal is essential before Saudi becomes a destination for English players - if that ever happens.

Yet PSG were offering him 1m a week not long ago, and no doubt Saudi, if they were ever interested, triple that.dozer wrote: ↑1 year agoHe's played well consistently for 8 months in 7 years for us.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑1 year ago Tying him down on a new deal is essential before Saudi becomes a destination for English players - if that ever happens.

That's the point; we can't afford those wages and thus quality players if states are interested.
We need his goals though, don’t we. You saw what happened to Chelsea without any goals. The wage increase isn’t a major expense compared to the transfer fees we are getting quoted. It sounds like we’ll pay at least 60M for Hojlund, who’s still only a prospect.
When you let the squad deteriorate like United has, your few good players have you over a barrel.

If you look at this thread, it's clear part of the reason Rashford got the contract because of fans support.
United fans must be among the dumbest fans in the world. If martial scores a few goals this season the fans will start begging the club to give him a 300k deal.
Then eventually blame the Glazers for overpaying players.

I know we’re the low hanging fruit for you dozer but trying to blame fans for what is going on at the club is beyond insane.
Because Rashford is currently out of sorts we’re meant to feel like idiots for getting excited about his form last season? Fuck off.
Let’s make it concise for you. We need home grown players and he seems a decent human being. He’s contributed and all right-headed fans want to see local lads in the shirt. But fans don’t decide the mental wage structure. If the glazers are stupid enough to put him on that much, what can we do about it?

Calling it "Getting excited about his form" is reductive.Felwin wrote: ↑1 year ago I know we’re the low hanging fruit for you dozer but trying to blame fans for what is going on at the club is beyond insane.

If the criteria to clamour for his expensive contract is him being a decent guy then that's my point. Fans are stupid.
How decent is he as a human anyway? His last season before contract expiry was his first good season out of 8 years. He didn't extend and would have gone on a free without top wages. His negotiation skills are fair game but that's hardly decent.
I suppose decent means him getting top wages for not assaulting anybody.
