Well yeah there is that. Richard Masters would be taking on states. No doubt our government ministers are in the background shitting it saying don't rock the boat cos we have deals with Qatar, Saudi, UAE etc. Bin Salman himself threatened Boris Johnson with commercial & economic consequences if the Saudi deal wasn't approved. What a situation we're in.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago Obscenly rich people don't give a fuck about rules Sid. They always find a way.
300m could be possible. I could see us generating 100m in sales.
But it's all moot really, we don't have any fucking idea whats going to happen.

For once I agree. We can't buy more mediocre crap.Felwin wrote: ↑1 year agoI get why a lot of those are "sensible" but there are question marks too.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago Aye. Same with Rabiot, who there's talk over. There are a shit ton of sensible buys out there.
Tielemans on a free, decent squad cover. Ward-Prowse you'd get for 25-30m. Neves has 1 year on his contract and would be a similar price. Marcus Thuram on a free as cover for whoever our main striker target is. James Maddison - Leicester going down, only a year left, Ndidi is the same. Dani Olmo - only a year left at RB Leipzig and miles better than Mount.
That's just a quick search. We seem completely unwilling to go after sensible targets.
Tielemans has flattered to deceive IMO. Neves is solid but slow, not sure we can accomodate another slow midfielder. Thuram has had his moments at Gladbach but I'm not sure his level is much higher than Weghorst's. Maddison would be sensible - bit expensive because he's english. Ndidi has been part of a shockingly poor midfield, do we really want to raid Leicester for players who have just had a season of getting battered? Olmo has the technique and as a Leipzig player should be physical enough but will he get game time at 10 with Bruno?
I'd welcome depth but if we're punting €100m+ on 3-4 squaddies then we might have to endure a bit more mediocrity. I think Hag might look to youth for depth and use the available funds to get 2 first teamers.
We need to buy players who can play for the first team regardless of their price. Even if we get an very young player that should apply.
We already have our youth team talent doing that. Garnacho is an example. He's challenging for the first team spot. Greenwood did that too until last season.
We already have 90% of our big money purchases not being good enough, why bother ensuring a 100% failure rate by buying garbage like Thuram?
Chelsea did it. They spent like what, 600m? in the last season.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑1 year agoThing is the Qataris can't afford 3-400m and be within FFP.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago Links to Rice now too. The only way we're landing Min-Jae, Rice, Mount, Kane and Neymar (£300-400m) is if the magic Qatar money tree lands. Noise has built up on transfer links from credible journo's over the last day or two. Just silly season, or do those in the background have a nod as to ownership changes....?
If they do a City and sign a bogus 100m a season shirt deal, it would fall foul of the Prems new rules on sponsors having to reflect market rate.
So it's a bit harder for states to dope now. It's gonna take a few more years.

Cos their finances were in great shape thanks to Abramovic writing off their 1.6bn debt. Ours aren't, we make 1m loss a week so that means FFP is an issue for us.dozer wrote: ↑1 year agoChelsea did it. Also Chelsea exploited the amortisation loophole that has now been closed.
So we won't be spending 600m
