Will we get top 4?

We don't have the goals or the quality to guarantee ourselves top 4. We're up there with the rest but it'll be a fight.
Among our first choice 11, how many positions do we have where we can trust players to be consistently good? The LW, RW, CF and GK positions are problem areas. Rashford has been good only this season among so many. He scores goals but his general gameplay over 90 is poor, like Nani (not so much this season), so we can't rely on him. The jury's out on Garnacho although he looks quite talented. We've not had any consistency on the RW, and CF positions either. Antony looks talented at best, but kind of impotent so far. Greenwood's career is probably over. Martial has been either unavailable or very poor whenever he is, and yet he has had no competition for his place until now and even then it's a patchy stop gap loan player in Woughourst.

That's our entire first choice attack and Gk positions which are very weak. I'm not even talking about squad depth.

Rashford has always been quality, save for last season. And the guy was playing with a broken back.

The jury isn't out on Garnacho - he's an excellent young player, but will need time.

Centre forward and RW are problems though. Antony looks a dud. We need Sancho to come back with a bang. And then we need a top forward in the summer. I actually think we might get Kane.

Sancho and Antony are having the same trouble a lot of wide forwards have coming to the prem from a different league. The test is whether they can consistently beat the first defender, which is harder in this league. Neither is lightning quick, so they need to add some tricks to their game.

As a true winger, Kanchelskis. Them days of him flying down the right and Sharpey/Giggs down the left.

Tottenham on the verge of beating City. Not a good result for us, as the way things are shaping up, Spurs will be our main rivals for top four. They haven’t dropped away like Chelsea and Liverpool.

We spent the most money in the summer. Even otherwise we had a better team than spurs and Newcastle prior to the spending. Tottenham only finished above us once in the rangnick season.
So we must at least beat Newcastle and Spurs. Newcastle had to buy a whole team but they still spent less cash. Newcastle were worse off than us prior to the spending.

So yeah we should expect third. The only excuse would have been Liverpool and perhaps Chelsea but they're both out of the equation for now so there is no excuse to not finish 3rd.

Football is more than just spending money as the last 10 years has proven. We've spent 1bn and been shite.

Also those players we bought in summer we haven't actually paid for cos we're broke. So I'm not sure the 'money spent' argument applies.

A shite United has still been ahead of spurs except in the last season. We've finished above Newcastle always. This season we've spent the most money in the summer. So not finishing ahead of spurs or Newcastle will be a huge underachievement.
