I've just had a look - the media are reporting its Ineos' bid. It could be bollocks but 4bn would make sense when you consider whoever buys the club has to spend a further 1/2bn redeveloping or bulldozing Old Trafford plus a further few hundred mil updating Carrington. It's gonna cost 4bn for the club then a further 2/3bn sorting out the Glazers' mess - so you're looking at 6/7bn in total.

Also factually United are not as big anymore. The commercials are smaller than other clubs' to the point where what's coming in isn't enough to pay for what's going out.

If anyone can find the ripped article that's not locked by a paywall please post

Judging by the snippets United are more fucked than previously thought. The wages Ed set are killing us, so the new 200k limit is one out of dire necessity.

The club is tanking and Glazers are getting out before it sinks. A new owner is needed asap.

Man Utd board 'scathing' about Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid to purchase club from the Glazers

Looks like the board briefing the media

Those parasites will make a mess of selling the club, does anyone seriously expect otherwise? They’ll hold out indefinitely for an unrealistic bid, while the club goes to shit with no investment. Wouldn’t surprise me if it drags out beyond the summer transfer window, where we’ll be paralysed.

Hate those parasites so much.

Not surprised tbh. I imagine they'll blow Ratcliffe's bid out of the water.

If Qatar do buy United then they'd better make sure they hide state money better than the Mansours have at City. Get a better firewall so their emails can't be accessed.

That's true, however there's a key difference between United and City (well, there are many!). If you remove the cost of servicing the debt and the annual dividends pay out, even with modest and reasonable sponsorship income and growth, United would have the means to self fund a transfer pot of ~£200m every single season. We don't really need a sugar daddy for that side of things, we have the means of funding it ourselves, IF the owners put the funding in for stadium and training facility redevelopment. And with United, there's genuine global appeal. A properly run United, with private investment in the infrastructure will give Hag all he needs to continually recruit quality players.

Very true. They don't need to cook the books cos the club has enough money to compete.

If we're going to be state owned then I really hope they don't dope cos it would taint the success.
